Sportsmanship Coach
Athletes already have football, track, and volleyball coaches. Now they can have a coach dedicated to building respect, integrity, and character in every game.
A Sportsmanship Coach is a parent, coach, teacher, or community leader who empowers young athletes to become champions of character. By mentoring athletes in designing creative, meaningful projects that highlight respect, fairness, and integrity, Sportsmanship Coaches guide them to find purpose and meaning in every game they play.
In a world where the focus often shifts from values to victories, these coaches restore balance by reframing sports as a powerful tool for peace, unity, and respect. They are intentional leaders, sparking awareness, nurturing talents, encouraging creativity, and connecting athletes with their communities.
Sportsmanship Coaches do more than shape athletes. They build a movement.
It's not just about winning or losing, but to learn about teamwork, learn about sportsmanship, learn about discipline. The value of working together for a common goal. Have the emphasis on fundamentals, not just games.
— Erik Spoelstra, two-time NBA Champion Head Coach of the Miami Heat

The Role of a Sportsmanship Coach
To shift the culture of sports toward values, inclusion, and respect, Sportsmanship Coaches guide athletes through key developmental moments. A central tool is the Athlete Focus Survey, which helps athletes reflect on their experiences, uncover talents, and turn ideas into action.
Sportsmanship Coaches play four important roles:
Sparking Awareness and Self-Evaluation – Helping athletes reflect on their values and recognize when and where sportsmanship is present or needed.
Recognizing and Nurturing Interests – Connecting athletes with sports and settings that align with their passions, which builds confidence and respect.
Encouraging Creative Expression – Empowering athletes to use talents like writing, art, or public speaking to lead cultural change.
Facilitating Community Connections – Bridging athletes with coaches, schools, and leaders to give youth-led sportsmanship projects visibility and support.
Sportsmanship Coaches help athletes move beyond simply following the rules. They inspire athletes to reshape the game itself.
